Celo, healthcare technology company, appoints experienced pair to its advisory board.

Celo, which originated in New Zealand and has expanded to Australia and the UK, has appointed healthcare executives Stella Ward and David Leach to its Global Advisory Board. The pair bring a combined 40 years of experience in healthcare technology and governance to the Celo team.

Celo CEO Steve Vlok says: “We’re delighted to be able to tap into the vast experience that both Stella and David have in the clinical and healthcare technology space. I don’t think we could have found two people who have more rounded perspectives on ICT in healthcare, and there’s no doubt that they’re both going to be a source of invaluable guidance to us.”

With a clinical background as a speech therapist, Ward was responsible for strategic leadership and governance in her recent role as Chief Digital Officer for Canterbury and West Coast District Health Boards. She is also a Board member of the New Zealand Health Innovation Hub and a member of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Global Advisory Board, allowing her to bring both a local and global perspective to the team.

Of the decision to join the Celo advisory group, Ward says: “Technology and innovation are having a huge influence in the global health field, and I haven’t seen many more exciting or ambitious platforms come along than Celo. What Steve and the team are trying to do can make a big difference to how healthcare teams and people come together. That’s a hugely compelling possibility and one I’m very keen to help realise.”

Leach is the CEO of cloud-based inventory management software business Cin7. Formerly Chief Operating Officer at ezyVet, a veterinary practice management software company, Leach has a long history of software leadership at fast-growing SaaS companies, including Orion Health and Qrious.

Leach says: “Celo is an exciting business in an exciting stage in its lifecycle. We have a real opportunity to participate in the transformation of healthcare globally and deliver a product that benefits everyone involved in the delivery of healthcare. I wouldn’t have joined the team if I didn’t believe in what it was doing, and I’m looking forward to partnering up with Steve, Stella and the rest of the leadership team to bring our big vision to fruition.”

The pair’s appointment follows a busy 2020 for Celo which has seen them launch a free, straight-to-clinician product to supplement its Celo Enterprise platform and be awarded a place on the UK’s G Cloud 12 government framework.

Vlok says: “2020 has obviously thrown up a few unexpected challenges, but our mission has never been more important and we’ve never been more motivated to do what we do. It’s been a big year - but it feels like our hard work is starting to pay dividends and with the team we have now, I’m excited and positive about the future.”
